A new generation of independent pharmacy
Independent Pharmacy Cooperative (IPC) and the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) School of Pharmacy are working to develop a new generation of independent pharmacy owners who will be equipped to implement primary care pharmacy services in medically underserved communities. They will gain new skills and learn about the industry by working at IPC member pharmacies.
Students accepted into the IPC Scholars program will have the opportunity to experience clinical rotations throughout southeastern Wisconsin. This unique track offered at the MCW School of Pharmacy Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) curriculum will create a path to pharmacy ownership for students. Participating students will gain the skills needed to manage and own independent pharmacies with expanded services for patients. These services include acute physical assessment, point of care testing including strep throat and flu tests, administering immunizations and comprehensive medication management.
